Brazilian-born and California-raised Kara Hazen founded Small Museum in the nooks and crannies of her home, driven by a lifetime of being a creative artist while trying to navigate the global pandemic in 2020. As the world came to halt, Kara, as a single mother, decided to start her woman-owned, micro-business-of-one. It became a way to provide for her little family and after 10 years of sitting at the sewing machine with a closet full of quilts, Small Museum was born and was the perfect fit. Small Museum is inspired by the vintage fabrics, textiles, and patterns of era’s gone by and nostalgia for old California. Our mission and desire is to make every-day wearable pieces of art by upcycling and breathing new life into forgotten materials of decades past. We work diligently to offer a collection of sustainable, vintage-inspired, truly one-of-a-kind pieces that are crafted with longevity and durability in mind. Each Small Museum piece is intentionally timeless and a wardrobe staple you will treasure for a lifetime.
